When someone trusts in Jesus, they are born again. That’s a strange concept, isn’t it? We may ask the same question Nicodemus asked, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” (John‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬, ESV). What is amazing is Jesus’ answer. He often answers a question with another question. Not so here. Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” (John‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬). If you’re reading this, you’ve been born of water. So, what’s it mean to be born of the Spirit? Simply put, belief in Jesus. Believe that you are a sinner, unable to redeem yourself, that Jesus was God, lived a perfect life, and died for you. Three days later He was resurrected from the dead and is in heaven, interceding for you. One day, Jesus will return. Believe that, and you’re born of the Spirit! Welcome to God’s family. 🙂

So much more could be said, but a key identity for a follower of Jesus is our status as born again. We have a new birth certificate! Satan loves to remind you of your former life. Don’t listen! Shout your new identity, proclaim it with words and action. Let’s spend time today praising God for this new life.
