Romans 6:13: “Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.”

I used to complain all the time about the roundabout invasion of our country. I didn’t get them. I didn’t trust them. I didn’t like them. But then I saw how useful they are… as long as other drivers understand who has to yield to others. It’s bad news (and bad for my road rage) when other drivers get confused. Learn to yield! Anytime I yell that, I’m reminded of how often I don’t yield to God. He always has the right of way and He’s a perfect driver. When we become a Christian, when we are placed in Christ, we are brought from death to life and must yield (offer, present) all of us to His will and His ways. We give God the driver’s seat and get comfortable as passengers. We may try to become backseat drivers, but He is firmly in control and can be trusted. This is one of the beautiful parts of our new life in Christ: we aren’t in control, but the perfect and holy God is. He makes us righteous and whole. He works for our good. He provides and protects in His perfect ways. We just yield. What a beautiful submission!
