Romans 6:14: “For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”

A new identity results in a new master. The old master is sin. The new master is Christ. Sin is death, destruction, disaster, and chaos. Christ is life! When you receive your identity from Christ, you are never the same. This change is radically demonstrated in the shift from law to grace. The law is a mirror that shows us our sin, shortcomings, and sorrow. It does not have the power to change our hearts or make us new. That requires the amazing grace of God. Since God desires holiness, the only means of producing what God desires is God Himself. It is His grace, His forgiveness, His cleansing that makes us holy. The law reveals our lack. It’s grace! “Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I’m found. Was blind, but now I see.” What a relief. What a blessing. What an amazing God we serve.
