This verse is a beautiful description of how the trinity works in our life. God, by His wonderful design, generously gave us Jesus and pours out His Spirit on us. The Holy Spirit is given to all who receive Jesus as Savior. The Holy Spirit is a big part of how God makes us a new creation, gives us a life giving purpose, and helps us become the people God designed us to be. The Holy Spirit is how God communicates His will to us and He gives us gifts. Jesus, our Lord, who sacrificially saved us, also became a man but was still God. He gave us the example and standard for how to serve. Our desire is to be more like Him as His disciples, walking in His ways, and learning how to serve with the gifts God has given us. The ways we are called to serve with our spiritual gifts, God is able to do His miraculous work of glorifying Himself and revealing Himself to others through us.
“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” –1 Corinthians 12:4-7 NLT
“He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.” –Titus 3:6 NLT
