When I was a brand new 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force, they sent me to the “Air and Space Basic Course” in the beautiful Montgomery, Alabama. A bunch of us Lt.’s spent a few days with some senior enlisted members. These were folks who had 15+ years of experience. Our job was just to sit and listen. There was another Lt. that kept saying, “in my experience.” After the first day, he stopped doing it. I guess someone gently corrected him and told him to keep his mouth shut and listen. So many times, we speak without any understanding. We put our opinions out there as if they are fact and gospel truth. Wisdom says we should talk less and listen more.
Proverbs 18:2: “Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.”
Yes, I get the irony of talking about facts vs. opinions on social media.
