MWM: Commit and Listen

When you find yourself with more time at home, to what do you turn your attention? Do you pick up the book you’ve always wanted to read? Do you binge on Netflix? Do you finally complete that home improvement project? The idea of committing to something means to apply or focus your attention or abilities on it. We have a lot of activities in our lives that deserve our time and attention. When you are on a date with your spouse, commit to that time (put away the phone!). When you are with your kids, commit to focusing on them and their needs. When you are at work, commit yourself to do a great job. When you are creating, designing, building, focus on it. Likewise, when you are studying, commit yourself wholeheartedly to it, especially if you are considering and applying God’s Word.

Proverbs 23:12: “Commit yourself to instruction; listen carefully to words of knowledge.”
