I have a lot of questions about the Bible. When I read through the Bible, and I come across something I don’t understand, I put a question mark beside it. I used to think it was God’s responsibility to reveal it to me. So, I would just sit there and tell God to show it to me. I wouldn’t exert any mental effort to understand. I wouldn’t do some research to see what the words meant in the original languages. I wouldn’t look at trusted resources to see what other, older, wiser, Christians thought it meant. I was lazy. Then I came across today’s passage and was introduced to the “Inductive Bible Study” method. I learned how to dig into God’s Word, observe, interpret, and apply. When I did this, the Holy Spirit would come alongside my studies and open my eyes, not to a new revelation, but old truths. I still have questions, but the answers are out there. I just need to discover them.
Proverbs 25:2: “It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them.”
