Who would you rather be around: a person who is always bragging about themselves or someone who brags about the accomplishments of someone else? Although we would say we would rather be around the latter, we often act like the former. There is nothing wrong with taking pride in your work. We are called to be excellent. But it is easy to slip into boasting. We should let others praise us and not our mouth. The Apostle Paul was always bragging about what Jesus was doing and was excited that God would use him to do it! Make sure your actions and speech draw attention to Jesus; the attention should be positive if you are doing His will and fulfilling His purposes. Christian, we exist to make Jesus famous! Of course, He doesn’t need us for this to happen, so be humbled when He uses you.
Philippians 1:26: “And when I come to you again, you will have even more reason to take pride in Christ Jesus because of what he is doing through me.”
