You are not God. I know that may come as a shock to some because they think they are, have been treated like it, or been outright told so. But, alas, you are not. Neither am I! The mantra of many generations is found in the Sinatra song, “I did it my way.” In other words, “It’s all about me!” If we are honest, this is how many of us orient our life. Jesus Christ, who was God, took an others-centered attitude. Jesus, who is worthy of all praise, honor, and glory, did not seek it out when He walked the earth. He remained focused on His Father’s will and mission. If we are to have the same attitude of Christ, we must look to the needs of others before our own. We must selflessly serve and love our neighbor as ourselves.
Philippians 2:6: “Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.”
