We love our stuff, don’t we? We take pride in owning the latest gadget, the most excellent car, the best _________ (whatever it is). I’m part of one of those mystery fishing tackle clubs where they send you lures each month. I don’t go fishing enough to justify it… yet I still get it. In the past, it was CD’s, watches, and at one point, tactical gear! So cool. But material possessions are nothing compared with knowing Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. You don’t hear of people on their death beds wishing they had spent more money obtaining more crap. No. You listen to stories of wanting more time with family, wishing relationships had been reconciled, and even fear of what is waiting on the other side. Don’t spend so much time gathering things that you can’t take with you. Put your time, effort, and emotions into something that lasts for eternity. First and foremost, a relationship with Jesus Christ and secondly, relationships with people.
Philippians 3:8: “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ…”
