Every four years, the United States goes through a political season. On top of COVID-19 and the implications of a global pandemic, Americans got a front-row seat to an ugly, bitter, disgusting, time-consuming, and revelatory election. I heard over and over again that you couldn’t be a Christian and vote ________. I’m not here to discuss that. What hurts the most this election cycle was the abandonment by many followers of Jesus of their true citizenship in Heaven and the placement of a political party or person above the love of God and love of others. Yes, we should advocate for the causes of Christ. But we do so in truth, love, and grace, and never at the disposal of our call to be decent and respectful. Christ is on His throne in heaven, and we await His return and the establishment of His kingdom. In the meantime, we are ambassadors of CHRIST! It is time we act like it.
Philippians 3:20: “But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.”
