Every morning, I wake up with a new pain or stiffness in my body. At first, it started with my knees and back. Then my smaller bones, joints, and muscles were attacked. Just the other day, I woke up with a strange pain in my little finger. Is anyone else surprised at the older person staring back at them when they look in the mirror? I always expect the young, athletic, slimmer (I was never slim) Scott to be staring back at me. The joys of growing old, I mean the joys of growing up! Our earthly bodies are susceptible to all kinds of evil and sickness. One day, our physical bodies will die, and sometime in the future, we will be given a new body. This new body will be glorious! No sickness. No weakness. No pain. No stiffness. No need for knee or hip replacements. There will be no influence of sin and death or decay in our bodies. The best part, these perfect bodies will be another free gift from God. What grace! What mercy! I can’t wait.
Philippians 3:21: “He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.”
