I heard a new phrase the other day: “Ninja Christians.” These are folks who are there on Sunday, but you don’t hear from them throughout the week. You may know who they are, but they are secretive and elusive. While some like to blend in, and remaining anonymous for a season is beneficial, this is not the long-term approach to church. After all, the church is supposed to be a family, a community of love and support. Ninja’s aren’t supportive! When you become a member or a local church partner, you are committing to sharing materially, emotionally, and spiritually. You share the highs and lows of life. You participate in communal life. Real partners share not only the good but the bad and the ugly too. We need each other.
Philippians 4:14: “Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.”
