One of the “fun things” about growing older is learning how the body changes. Some aspects are cooler than others. As you experience more, you gain wisdom and the ability to laugh at the little things. However, your physical body hurts more! God has created our physical bodies to function at a high capacity if we give them the proper nutrients, exercise, sleep, and water. The same goes for the body of Christ. It must be nourished, exercised, and adequately rested to function the way God calls it to. When the body is sick, disabled, or improperly cared for, its function is diminished. The body parts must work together. For the church, this means that you must be present with other believers; you must know and use your gifts, talents, and abilities to serve others. This past year has been challenging because there has been disunity in the body. We must get back to the unity of mind and purpose, centered on the person and work of our head, Jesus Christ. Come on, body of Christ, we can do this! Let’s glorify God, make and grow more followers of Jesus, and love relentlessly until the Lord returns or carries us home.
1 Corinthians 12:13- “Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.”
