I have been spending time lately studying laments. To lament is to express grief or sorrow passionately. 2020 has taught us all that everything is not okay, and while we live victoriously in Christ, there are hard days, sad days, days that require us to call out to God in anguish, sorrow, and deep grief. Today’s verse is part of a song called “The Suffering of Affliction.” Scripture is full of sad, lonely songs. It is in our most profound need that the Lord whispers His love and care for us. Sometimes we can’t hear it over the loudness of our wails, but He is there. We need to learn to quiet the noise around us to experience the settled peace that God promises through believing in Jesus. We must learn how to cry again. Will you join me in pleading day-by-day?
Psalm 88:13: “O Lord, I cry out to you. I will keep on pleading day by day.”
