Pray31 – Day 24: Philippians 1:9

In a world that is getting more and more defined by hate and division, Christians must be known for their love. We cannot play the role of God in people’s hearts and convict them of sin. So, we should leave God’s business to God and do what He has commanded us to do: Love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, love our neighbor as ourselves, and make disciples of all nations. We can’t make disciples if we don’t love. We can’t go to the world and be effective without love. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we should love or condone someone’s sin, far from it. But we love because God first loved us, and we love because every single person is made in the image of God and is worthy of love. We love those we like and those we may not. We love with no hidden agenda but out of an overwhelming desire to be obedient to the One who loved us enough to send His Son to die for us.

Father God, help us love others. Help our love overflow to those around us. Help our love point people to Your love and grace. Amen.

Philippians 1:9: “I pray that your love will overflow more and more and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.”
