Marriage Takes Work

Proverbs 25:24: “It’s better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a quarrelsome wife in a lovely home.”

Attics scare me. Every time we move, Cora asks to explore the attic. I don’t get it, and I’m running out of excuses why she can’t. Help! Today’s verse says living alone in an attic is preferable to a contentious marriage. If you fight with your spouse, this does not permit you to file for divorce. God hates divorce! Instead, it is a challenge to work on your marriage and eliminate the fights. Lyndsey and I have a great marriage because we have worked hard to understand each other and show each other tremendous grace. We find time each day to make eye contact, communicate, encourage, and clarify expectations. We also know it is essential to grow closer to God individually and as a family. I’m not saying this to brag, but to tell you that two very different people can get along and thrive in marriage! Thank you to everyone who has poured into us and shown us how to be one. You are appreciated.
