Wisdom and Work

Lyndsey and I have lots of parenting goals. We want to see our kids grow up and walk with the Lord their entire lives. That’s number one. As such, almost everything we do has intentionality to it. We ask ourselves if a particular activity, book, show, event, etc., will bring them closer to God. We are far from perfect. Two aspects of helping them grow up are teaching them wisdom. The primary source for this is God’s Word. Secondary sources include good books and surrounding them with wise people. Another aspect of helping them grow up involves teaching them how to work hard. We don’t want lazy kids. We don’t want entitled kids. We want humble kids that know the value of hard work. Lyndsey and I both grew up in homes where hard work was encouraged and modeled. If you are not filling your mind and heart (and your kids’) with good sources of wisdom, start today. If you are lazy, get up and go to work! You know who you are. 🙂

Proverbs 12:14: “Wise words bring many benefits, and hard work brings rewards.”
