MWM: Pattern of Christ

I am not ashamed to admit that I know how to sew. My mom taught me how to cross-stitch as a kid. I guess it was a way to keep me occupied for hours on end. What I appreciated about it was how structured it was. You worked off a pattern. I never got to the point where I took artistic license and strayed from the design. When we think of the Christian life, we have the perfect pattern of Christ. We also have the way of other saints. We imitate their lives as they imitate Christ. I have always been hesitant to encourage people to pattern their life after mine because I know what a sinner I am. Also, we have the Bible, which gives us the life story of Christ. So, brothers and sisters, don’t follow or imitate me. Look to Christ! Submit to God like Jesus. Love others like Jesus. Cry for your city like Christ. Care for widows and orphans and the oppressed like Christ. Be intentional with your time like Christ. Be like Christ!

Philippians 3:17: “Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example.”
