How long has it been since you’ve prayed for your pastor? What about the elders and deacons in your church? Have you started praying for the next pastor of your church? Or perhaps the next pastor your church is going to send out to plant a new work? Don’t underestimate the power of praying for your church’s leadership. I will tell you that it is one act of service that you can never do enough of. Also pray for their families. It is hard to be an under-shepherd and those of us who have accepted the call feel the weight of it every day.
Father in Heaven, thank you for the leadership of my church. Help them discharge their duties with effectiveness, efficiency, and zeal. Protect their families; give them boldness and courage. Help them prioritize their day so they bring You the most glory. Renew their strength. Place people in their lives who can lovingly hold them accountable. Help me realize that even the pastor is a part of the body of Christ and needs to be served just like everyone else. Help me apply the “one another” commands to my church and her leaders. Amen.
Acts 14:23: “Paul and Barnabas also appointed elders in every church. With prayer and fasting, they turned the elders over to the care of the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.”
